The Kit is used to take self-test for covid at home. It is manufactured by Pune-based Mylab Discovery Solutions Ltd. This kit does the rapid antigen test(RAT) easily at home.
Pricing:
This Kit Consists of a Covid-19 antigen lateral flow test device and it will be priced at 250 INR(Expected). It will be available to the market by the end of next week and Available at local medical shops and online.
As Per ICMR, only a nasal swab specimen will be required to do the test and the kit will produce results in 15 minutes.
Who Can Self Test?
1.Those who have covid-19 Symptoms.
2.Those who had close contact with a lab-confirmed covid-19 patient
In its advisory, the ICMR said that this should not be used indiscriminately. All individuals who test positive may be considered as true positives and no-repeat testing is required.
How to Self-Test on CoviSelf?
- The user must first download the Mylab Coviself app(Not came yet to play store) and fill in the credentials. Users can download the app By Scanning the QR Code given in the kit's Package.
- Home testing should be conducted as per the procedure described by the manufacturer in the user manual.

- Wash your hands thoroughly and dry them before starting the testing procedure.
- The kit comes in a pouch and has 3 parts -a nasal swab, a pre-filled extraction tube, and a test card.
- Without touching the swab head, insert the swab inside both the nostrils up to 2 to 3 centimeters
- Roll the Swab five times inside each nostril
- Dip the swab in the tube, pinch the tube at the bottom and swirl the nasal swab 10 times to ensure that the swab is immersed well in the tube.
- Break the swab from the breakpoint and cover the tube, two drops have to be added to the test kit by pressing.
- All users are advised to click a picture of the best strip after completing the test procedure.
- At the 15-minute mark, the app will ring the test result will be made available to the patient on the mobile app
- Results appearing after 20 minutes must be considered invalid
- Data in the app will be stored in a secure server that is connected with the ICMR covid-19 testing portal.
- CMR has advised that all those who test positive using the kit must follow protocols of home isolation and care.
Is The Home-Testing KIT Reliable?
According to studies, rapid antigen tests are likely to produce false negatives because they are less sensitive than the Lab-based RT-PCR tests
However, experts believe their accuracy increases when the viral load is high
Hence, RATs are likely to miss few positive cases presenting with
a low viral load.
ICMR advises that all symptomatic individuals who test negative by RAT should undergo an RT-PCR test
